Sreehatta Sammelani,
Bangalore- All About Us
It is truly about all of us, it’s about you, me and all others who speak sylheti, have sylheti origin. Apart from discharging usual responsibilities of personal and professional life, a few individuals cutting across diversifying walks of life; professionals, retired personals, sat together in some corner of the city, cherishing their language and trying to recollected the fading memories of their origin. Soon the idea of Sreehatta Sammelani sparked in their minds and decided to have a sylheti association in the city of Bangalore and give it a legal stamp.
The infectious enthusiasm and euphoria got spread in every nook and corner of the city. With some obvious hiccups and after a lot of deliberation, on 13th of july 2006, the Sreehatta Sammelani Bangalore got the recognition of Govt. of Karnataka. As any pure thought and idea has to stand to and overcome hurdles of its time to see the light of the day, so also this noble initiative had a few bumps on its way. Initially, those who were not very sure of this initiative, are slowly becoming part of it. The Sreehatta Sammelani is not about an individual or a group of few individuals, it is all about everyone who is directly or indirectly are part of this initiative. Everyone is committed both legally and morally to maintain maximum level of transparency and integrity in all sammelani affairs.
. The goals, objectives and motives are the cohesive zels with the sylheti–aana being the main centrifugal force. It is extremely encouraging that we are constantly growing and at times we need to make little compromises on our personal preferences to achieve a larger common goal for all of us. Someone rightly said “ Smaller piece of a bigger cake is bigger than the bigger piece of a smaller cake”. Stronger and focused we are, we will surely be able to stand for the cause of the community and society in general. Identity dilemma, is perhaps the only common identity that all of us carry along with us, wherever we go, whenever we go.
